Dear Baby Mace,

Your full legal name was Macey Elizabeth Johns, but we affectionately referred to you as Baby Mace. You were a pretty good dog. You were acquired under controversial circumstances. You see, our beloved Domino passed after 13 good years and Mother and I decided it was time for another furry friend in the house

Opposed was not the word to describe Dad. Obstinately opposed was more like it. But Mother and I bought a new dog anyway. You were about one pound of white fluff, and we loved you.

You grew to be quite obnoxious and rambunctious.

I made many apologies for you when guests would come over and you would violently scrape their legs or make their ears bleed from your high pitched barks.

Dad’s heart was changed a few months after you came to be our dog, and you were soon his best friend. He’ll really miss you. So will Mother.

You were a nice little snuggly dog, and we’ll all miss you.

When I told my parents, “Well, she’s in doggy heaven.” Dad replies, “No, she was a bad dog, she’s probably still in purgatory.”

We are thankful for the time we had with you. Rest in Peace Baby Mace.

A Thought on Education from Bunnie.

"It just goes to show you that it pays to send your children to the finest schools. Look at that Kate Middleton. Her parents sent her to a fine school and she's going to be the Queen of England."

I think my 87-year-old friend may be onto something.

Bargain Boots.

About a month ago, I made the ever important decision that this girl needed some really great boots. As I scoured the internet, I found some delicious Steve Madden's that were unfortunately out of this part-time school-teacher's budget. For kicks and giggles however, my friend Millie and I traipsed over to Dillard's shoe department and tried them on. The shoe salesman, Julio was especially kind..."Those boots look really good on you...And not just because I work here, I'm serious." "Thank you, Julio. I'll be sure to send my husband back here to buy them for me for Christmas." What I really meant by that, of course, was, "I will do my darndest to find something comparable for much cheaper. Thank you for your time." So here are the Steve Madden's...

And HERE are some very similar boots I found at Kohl's.com. Unfortunately I could not find them here in town, nor were they available online. BUT due to God's sovereign hand over my fashion choices, Millie found them at the Kohl's in Midland for $36.99. That's right, $100 cheaper than the Maddens. Now, to be fair, the Steve Madden's were real leather, and these are, eh em, pleather, but it's totally fine. $36.99, people. $36.99.

Without further adieu...

VERY similar boots with the same buckle on the side and everything!
The boots have kept my toes warm and stylish this winter, AND under budget.
