Our Autumn evenings have been spent laying on a large quilt in the cool grass in the backyard playing with Daddy and listening to a choir of canines in the neighborhood. We are so blessed.

Our boy was born into a Red Raider/Lobo household. Lucky for him, his parents' teams played each other in football last weekend, and he was able to mediate his parents' rivalry.
He wore the right colors...
With Mom getting his sweet little guns up!
And with Dad he's a Lobo...
So he cares more about sucking on his hand than the football game...
Texas Tech beat the Lobos 49-14. Better luck next year, Daddy Boy!!!

I had the privilege of helping host a baby shower for one of my dearest friends last weekend. I have known Brooke and her family since high school youth group. We also went to Tech together and were in the same Christian sorority and lead a girls Bible Study through Campus Crusade. We even shared a boyfriend in high school. :)
Anyways, this was an extra special baby shower because Brooke's daughter Blair was born into the arms of Jesus last November. It was sudden and tragic, as Brooke was 36 weeks along. You can read more of how Brooke and Clint have clung to their faith in Christ to give them hope in the most difficult time in their lives at Brooke's blog. She is such a light.
Brooke is expecting a sweet baby boy this November and we had the most wonderful time hosting a 'vintage woodland' themed baby shower for this little munchkin! Remember Whitney who hosted the fabulous library themed couples dinner party for Ryan and I? Well, her mom is besties with Brooke's mom and the two of them, plus Pinterest, came up with so many of these super-cute ideas.
So much fun seeing it all come together!
Here is Brooke with her mom and sister Aubrey (Have I mentioned how much I love this family?). Her sister Brittany (another dear friend!) is living in the Middle East right now and the picture on the bottom right is her on Skype! So fun! Brittany's due with a baby girl in a few weeks, and this was the sisters' first bump picture together. Isn't technology fun?
Would you join me in praying for Brooke, Clint and their sweet son? Pray that he would grow strong and healthy and that Brooke would have a safe labor and delivery and a healthy baby boy. We trust God for these things and are reminded of His love for us through people like Brooke.

Cooper is 5 months old and doing wonderfully!
Here's what's going on these days with our Cooper...
He still eats momma's milk every 3-4 hours during the day and sleeps 10-12 hours at night. We dropped our 'dreamfeed' a few weeks ago and never looked back. I feed him around 7 and put him down for the night. It's nice to have a few hours for Ryan and I to spend together before we turn in. He takes 3 good naps a day and drinks pumped milk from a bottle with Grammy while I'm at work on Monday and Wednesday. He's in size 2 diapers and 6 month clothes. We weighed him on our home scale he's about 14 lbs. As you can see from his 5 month picture, he can't quite decide which one he likes more: his feet or his Sophie. :)
The past two weeks have proven to be all about teeth! His front bottom right tooth is cutting through, and my normally super content child proves to be quite fussy in the evenings when that pesky tooth really seems to give him fits.
He loves to suck that sweet thumb when going to sleep, put everything in his mouth, sing and dance with momma, face front in the Bob on walks (and now runs!), jump and play in his jumper, and cheer on his Daddy Boy at cross country meets...
He has such a sweet disposition and we are so blessed by our little man!

Ryan's Grandfather just happens to be moving into the same retirement home that my Grandfather lives in. I have no doubt that he'll fit right in...The even crazier part is that he and his lady friend are moving into the same apartment my Grandpa just moved out of...Small world.
Anyways, Grandpa Frank was generously giving away tons of his stuff, and up for grabs was his dining room set. When he offered it to us Ryan and I said 'yes!' and 'thank you!' While our old set was more our style, it was not the best quality and the chairs were just slightly uncomfortable if you sat in them for more than 10 minutes. Frank's set was definitely more
old-fashioned, fancy, traditional, but I knew I could re-cover the cushions and be happy with it. The best part is that I sold our old set on Craigslist in AN HOUR for $280. Wahoo!
As much as I love a good Southwest pattern...
I got my super handy, (not to mention good-looking) hubby to work!
We interrupt this broadcast to report a DIY casualty...Yours truly slid a meter stick into the wall and DOWN CAME THE CLOCK!
Really? Is this my life?
Dr. Gilmore examining the wound...
Then getting back to the task at hand. :)
(The best part about all this was that sweet Cooper slept through the entire Crash-Boom-Bang! that was going on right outside his door.)
I ordered the oilcloth on etsy and it came within a couple days. I ordered 3 yards and it was more than enough to cover 6 chairs. I like the cheery, retro pattern that will withstand the
spilling eating habits of our little family!
