Sweet Baby Oliver (and his Mama!)

Last weekend I went to Scottsdale to visit my lifelong bestie and her sweet new little one. Boy, was it good for this heart of mine!

We laughed, ate, shopped, and talked. and talked. and talked! Her hubby Jesse was quite a trooper putting up with us girls!

Sweet snuggles!

Remember when it seems like all they do is sleep? Yeah, me neither.

 Lover boy.

Oliver is one lucky boy to have Lindsey as his mama!!

On the way to the airport we went to Sprinkles cupcakes. Worth.Every.Penny.

Thanks Linds for having me and for letting me snuggle your little man!! Love you!!

A Month of Thanks. (Week 4)

We once again had a lovely Thanksgiving week this year.

Coop's first snow. He loved it!

Yours truly, 25ish years ago, baby doll and all.

And while I was in the mood for throwbacks...Brad and I seem really thrilled about Christmas, don't we?

Johns crew at Thanksgiving.

Cooper taking a Turkey break with a little baseball.

 Gilmore crew.

 Happy Thanksgiving 2013!!

A Month of Thanks. (Week 3)

Yikes. I would be a big fat liar if I told you that last week was all roses and sunshine and I had a heart overflowing with thankfulness. Last week was one of our hardest, but apparently I'm quite stubborn and didn't want to stop my weekly blog posts for this month. We miscarried for the third time. And although our hearts are profoundly sad, we still have plenty to be thankful for. Our family and friends are so supportive and love us so well. And last week, encouraging calls and texts, frozen pizzas, Chick-Fil-A milkshakes, bottles of wine, and plenty of dark chocolate were God's grace to us. We trust Him and believe that He is good even when our circumstances are quite terrible. We appreciate your prayers.

A Month of Thanks. (Week 2)

11.8 "Uh Brad"

Uncle Brad (my brother) has been living in ABQ for the past few months while he's in between Masters Degrees and high paying jobs. It's been fun watching he and Cooper become good buds.

11.9 Coach Gilmore
Ryan's cross country team got third place at State! Cooper was pretty pumped about the hawk tattoo he got to wear on his cheek to cheer on Daddy's team!

11.10 Naps. Aren't Sunday afternoons perfect for a long nap?

11.11 Afternoon Date
Ryan and I snuck away on Veteran's Day to see this movie. SO SO good!!

11.12 Great-Grandmas
Tuesday I took my Grandma Johns to Wal-Mart (this takes upwards of two hours and could have its own blog post) and that afternoon Brad and I visited Grandma Lahvic. So grateful that I have both Grandmas still living.

11.13 Sleep. I don't want to ever take for granted the power of a good night's sleep!

11.14 Breakfast with my Buddo.
Mornings are the sweetest time with my boy.

A Month of Thanks. (Week 1)

I read this blog post last week, and decided this month I would take one thing each day to focus my thankfulness on.

Colossians 3:15 and following says 'And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.'

11.1 Grandparents.
Although these pics are showcasing our Halloween spirit, it shows how blessed we are to have our families so close to love on our boy.

11.2 Food.
It's no secret I love food. I'm so grateful to live in America where we have fresh, yummy food each day to nourish our bodies.

11.3 Our Church.
Ryan and I met at Desert Springs, and have gone there ever since. What a blessing to go to a Bible believing church with so many wonderful friends. And the music is out.of.this.world. We're blessed.

11.4 My School.
Teaching kindergarteners two days a week will do one of two things to a girl... Make you crazy or make you laugh really hard. Most days I laugh really hard. ;)

11.5 Being Home with Cooper.

I'm so thankful that I get to spend most of my days with my boy...And introduce him to real.live.Nemo.

11.6 Cooper's Daddy.
Cooper and his Daddy sure do love each other! Ryan had literally taken one step in the door from a long day at work and sat down with Coop to play in his basket.

 11.7 Fall Weather.
How lovely that we get to go on afternoon walks and play in the backyard!

What are you thankful for this month?

Fall Around Here.

Autumn sure is a lovely time of year, don't you think?

 Fall mantel.

We've been doing lots of nap time sewing...

College football watching with Daddy (How bout them Red Raiders, huh?!)

And 10K running. Silly me thought it was a good idea to run over 6 miles at one time. Like I said, silly me. :)

Coop thought it was silly too.

Okay, it wasn't that bad. I met my goal of running under an hour. By 12 seconds. ;)

Sweet Cooper and Nemo in Coop's new favorite thing to push around, take things in a out of, and sit in. :)

I hope you're enjoying your Fall, too! I can't wait to show you Coop's Halloween costume next week! Can you say Man of Steel? ;)

15-18 Months.

Our Cooper boy is 18 months! His well-child check up isn't for a few more weeks, so I'll let you know his height/weight stats when I get them!

The past three months have been great!

At 15 months he was busy busy playing outside in the warm sunshine. For most of the summer I'd get him up and he'd drink his milk in the stroller while we went for a run. We'd come back and play outside all morning before it got too hot.

He loves bath time... Such a ham.

16 months. Our new dryer box made an excellent fort! He still goes to bed around 7 and wakes up around 7. He has 16 of his baby teeth, and I think he's working on his two year old molars already. He's a drool box and is chewing on his fingers all day.

His vocabulary has been increasing so much in the past few months, and he began telling us when he needed to go potty. I'm not pushing it at all, but when he does tell us, we scoot him to the potty and he goes! It's not super consistent, but we're working on it.

17 months-we started cheering on the Hawks!

Tearing it up with the high school ladies at the Cross Country meet.

Busy playing with his letters. This is one way I get dinner cooked in the evenings!

This is the other way. :) Speaking of dinner, he's still a good eater, and eats pretty much what we do!

He loves climbing up the steps and going down the slide at the park. He's quite the thrill seeker!

Coop donned his pearl snap and we spent his college savings at the State Fair.

18 months. The Super Cooper.  He still loves his books, but also loves playing with puzzles. He says, 'he-pease' (help, please) because he can't quite put them together on his own. He watches his poems a few times a week when I take a shower. Not that I only shower a few times a week, he just watches the poems a few times a week. You get it. :)

Remember how Coop lost his best friend, his thumb? Well, he's been replaced by Nemo. My mom got him this a few weeks ago, and Coop's obsessed. I'm not sure why Grammy couldn't find something a little smaller and less obnoxious, but he loves it. He throws all of his other toys out of his crib, but "Ne-no" is smothered in love. All. day. long. :)

I know I say this every time, but time is flying and I'm so thankful for our little man!

#girlsweekend.

Last weekend, some of my best girlfriends from college and I reunited in Lubbock (sans offspring) for a little girls weekend. Upon arrival, we watched this video and spent the rest of the weekend hashtagging our conversations and laughing our tails off.

We hit up all of our fave restaurants from college. Our first stop was Spanky's for fried cheese. #arteryclogger

We stayed at the Overton, a nice hotel that did not exist while we were in school. #lubbockiscoolnow

The next morning we had coffee and breakfast at J&B before shopping at Hodgepodge and cutest little baby boutique known to man. #thatcreepymanistaringatme #unibomber

#prettygirls #theyreinthailandfortheweekend

That afternoon we took a stroll down memory lane walking around campus. #gunsup

 Enough said. #ourcoachishotterthanyourcoach

That evening we ate a really terrible meal at Chuy's. It was still fun, though. #youshouldgiveusatip #choctawcherokee

Sunday morning we went to our old church before leaving town. #thanksgirls #goodtimes #rosasfortheroad #nyc2015
