'Anniversary' Bedding Update.

Ryan and my 5-year anniversary is coming up in June. I thought a fun present for ourselves would be to update our master bedding.
We painted our walls a lovely gray when we had a snow-cation 2 years ago, remember?

Here's what it used to look like...We wanted to keep the gray walls so I began looking high and low for something to match, and ended up finding this bed set at of all places! We also got a screamin' deal on a new tufted headboard, and I got the throw pillows at Homegoods and Target.

My lovely seamstress of a mother made covers for three of the old throw pillows. The curtains came with the bedding, and the mirror was also from Target.

We got two new shelves for each side of the window that perfectly display our new family pics we had taken for Cooper's 1st birthday.

I decided to re-purpose these old birdy canvases to try this...

You know, this trend on Pinterest. Note to those who want to try it, the thicker the letters, the better. Mine were way too thin and I had to use white paint to fill in where they didn't peel off. Don't you just love that Anne Bradstreet quote?

I can't wait to share the rest of our family pics soon!

The room is much brighter and super cheery!

I painted and stamped this onto the other canvas on the wall right outside our room. It's a good reminder, don't you think?

And leave it to the Instagram filter to make my master look like a swanky hotel!!

12 months.

Hooray! Cooper is ONE!

Height: 27.75 inches 3rd%
Weight: 18.3 lbs.  2nd%
Head: 18 inches 25th%
(Still a pipsqueak!)

Coop's birthday was last week, and Ryan and I both played hookie from work to spend the day together. We started out the day with donuts. Duke City Donuts, to be exact. I have never been so serious about anything. If you live in the ABQ area, stop what you're doing. Drive to Duke City Donuts. Stuff your face. Feel Happy.

Cooper wasn't disappointed with his first taste of fried dough.

Ryan taught him how it was done. Next we made our way to the Aquarium (too windy for the zoo!)

We set our alarm for 12:08 PM, the exact time our little bug was yanked from my abdomen. We had a moment, where this girl may or may not have started crying right there in front of the sting rays...

We didn't have too much time for tears because we were too pumped that we're ONE!

Family timer pic at the botanical gardens!

This month has been a great one...We've spent lots of time outside, watching plenty of baseball games and track meets. He's not walking yet, but cruising all over the place. He's completely weaned (tear), and taking kindly to the world of whole milk. He talks talks talks all day long, but the real words we hear are mama, dadda, bye bye, ball, book, bath...Lots of B's. He's very very busy, into everything, but especially loves flipping through his board books.

His monthly laundry basket pics have come to an end, but isn't it fun seeing how much he's grown?! We continue to thank the Lord for His abundant goodness to us in giving us Coop!

If you give a boy a party...

We had Cooper's birthday party yesterday and I channeled my 'Where did time go?' sadness into party planning. We had family and a few friends, and the Lord blessed us with the most perfect day!

The invitations.
Welcome to the party!

 Chalkboard banner!

I had a fun guessing game for the older kids. Whoever got closest to guessing how many cookies were in the jar won the book 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.' One super-cute 3 year old guessed 500-there were 381, so she won!

I made his monthly laundry basket photos into a banner.

 Chalkboard tags for the grub.

Mini mason jars with striped straws were perfect for filling with different types of milk.

Chocolate was the fave-big surprise!

I made chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, citrus butter and peanut butter cup cookies. Yum!

At first when we gave him his cake, he didn't quite know what to do. He quickly figured it out. :)

Proud mama and daddy!

We're serious about cake in this family.

 Happy 1st Birthday buddy boy!!

On the Eve of our Baby's First Birthday...

I cannot think of a sweeter way to show how I feel than this precious poem on this, the eve of our son's first birthday. We are thanking our good God for such a wonderful year with our little boy.
