A Very Fun Weekend.

Last weekend sweet Millie came for a lovely weekend. We brunched, shopped, lunched, and chatted non-stop. Oh, and Cooper made a fast friend in his sweet Auntie Mill. She spoiled us all rotten, and it pains me that we only get to see each other once a year.

Ready to party. :)

Auntie Mill wore a cape like a superhero and snuggled the boy with the best of them. We put Coop in the pack n play and gave her his big boy bed for the weekend. The first morning when he woke up he asked me, 'Where's the girl in my bed?" So great.

While she was here, my lovely friends threw a delightful little shower to celebrate our baby girl.

The hostesses. I have some very kind and generous friends!

We ate and chatted and opened plenty of pink presents. It was perfect. :)

Millie flew out early Saturday morning, just in time for Ryan and I to celebrate 6 years of wedded bliss. We went to dinner at a yummy French restaurant and this preggo was in french onion soup and filet mignon heaven!

Here's yours truly at 31 weeks. I went to the doc this AM and all is well. We had an ultrasound last week and our little miss was measuring a few days ahead and weighed roughly 3 lbs. It was super fun watching her practice breathing in there! We're getting very excited to meet her!

Laura.

My oldest and dearest friend in the world is Laura Christine. She and I grew up across the street from each other since I was 2 and she was 1, and our parents still live in the same homes today. Apparently when we were itty bitty I referred to her as my 'boyfriend across the street' (not sure where the confusion was there) but I've always seen her as my little sister.

Little Besties.

Red Raider besties.

Right before Thanksgiving 2013, Laura went to urgent care thinking she had mono or the flu, and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was in the hospital for a month undergoing very serious treatments. She is still undergoing outpatient treatments, and will do so until September. After that point she'll need to take chemo pills for another two years. Laura is an amazing woman with an amazing fight inside her. The other day we went to Flying Star and she said, 'I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.' What an amazing attitude she has!

Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers (including Laura) and to commemorate loved ones lost. Ryan and I have joined her team and are raising funds for this important cause. I'm asking you to join me in raising money! Even the smallest amount adds up, and you'll be making a real impact on the fight against cancer. Please click here to donate!

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

The Big Boy Bed.

Seeing as we'll be welcoming our baby girl into the world in 12ish weeks, we decided to move Coop into a big boy bed.

We bought a twin bed at Ikea during our trip to Scottsdale  a few months back, and Coop helped Daddy put it together last week.

I got his bedding at Land of Nod (on sale) and liked it because I felt like it would grow with him. Doesn't the bed look HUGE with such a little guy in it? We bought a semi circle foam roller to put in between the sheet and the mattress pad as a barrier so he doesn't roll out in the middle of the night. So far, so good!

We bought him this cube shelf from Ikea also for his toys. The bookcase on the left was handed down to us, but had red fabric. My mother, the seamstress extraordinaire, used the chevron fabric from his crib skirt to re-cover the bookcase. Win/win!

I moved the artwork that was over his crib to the shelf above his dresser and moved the changing pad off the dresser since he's only in diapers for nap and nighttime and we can change him on the bed!

Above his bed now are these vintage super hero tins that we picked up at Hobby Lobby for half off! Dad and Cooper like that they are super heroes and mom liked how well the colors go with his bedding. ;)

All in all, it's been a great transition! He thinks his big boy bed is the coolest. He's been staying in his bed and sleeping wonderfully at night. Naps are a whole different story, as it's much more fun to stay up and gab with your stuffed animals than to lay down and close your eyes for a couple hours. I would kill for someone to make me lay down in a dark, cool room for two hours every afternoon! ;)
